Hickory – Sarah Alice Babb Farver, 102, of Hickory, NC passed away on Monday, January 29th, 2024 at Carolina Caring.

Born on March 16th, 1921 in Whitfield County, Georgia, Sarah was the daughter of the late Thaddeus Gilbert and Beryl Woodall Babb.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and grandson, David Farver. At the time of Ken's death in 2020, they had been married 77 years.

While living in Erie, PA, Sarah was very active in both the P.T.A. and the Presbyterian Church; serving in many capacities of the local, state, and national levels. She was the first woman Moderator of the Lake Erie Presbytery; traveled on Synod Mission tours all over the world; and served as chairperson of the World Wide Mission Committee which also included international tours. After retiring, she and Ken moved to Wildwood, FL, (to enjoy the sun and golfing), and when in their 90's, moved to Hickory to be near their daughter.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her daughter, Karen Bennett (Andy Brinkley) of Hickory; and son, C. Ronald Farver (Pam) of Newry, SC; grandchildren, Dana Peissel of Hickory, Dawn Bennett of Atlanta, GA, Bethany Miller (Patrick) of Muncie, IN, Katie Hedrick of Muncie, IN; great grandchildren, Julien Peissel, Bennett Tretsch, Ben Miller, and Sarah Miller.
