Patricia Joyce (Early) Greenfield Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pederson Funeral Home - Rockford on Feb. 2, 2024.

Patricia Joyce (Early) Greenfield, known affectionately as Pat or Patty to her friends and family, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2024. Born on January 23, 1933, in Sac City, Iowa. Pat's life was a testament to her kind and gentle spirit, and her unwavering faith.
Pat's journey began as the oldest daughter of seven in Sac City, Iowa. She came to know the Lord in high school when a friend invited her to church. Her zeal to know more about Him led her to Baptist Bible Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she not only expanded her Bible knowledge, but also met the love of her life, Lloyd Early and formed other lifelong friendships. After her graduation, Pat dedicated many years of service as a skilled and attentive secretary in the corporate world, many years in the church and at Grand Rapids Baptist College. Her professional demeanor was always balanced with a warm smile and a kind word for everyone she encountered. Throughout her life, Pat's love radiated through her devotion to her family. She passed on a legacy of hard-working skills to her children, Paula (John) Dannenberg, Linda Ritz, Brian (Anne Surprenant) Early, and Rachel (Kevin) Melton. Also surviving her are 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Lloyd Early, and her second husband, Norman Greenfield. Both marriages were filled with shared dreams, challenges overcome together, and countless moments of happiness. Each relationship deeply shaped the woman she was and the family legacy she leaves behind.
A woman of many interests, Pat had a special talent for sewing, quilting, and making handmade cards and gifts for her loved ones. She had a creative bent, a craft room filled with an endless amount of card supplies and material for sewing. She also found immense pleasure in shopping, whether it was searching for the perfect gift for a family member or finding a great deal that she could share with her friends. Pat's hobbies were more than pastimes; they were expressions of her love and generosity.
Those who knew Pat will remember her as a faith-filled soul whose kindness touched the hearts of many. Her gentle demeanor was a constant reminder of the beauty of a simple act of kindness. Pat's unwavering faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her through the best and most challenging times. Her spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the memories of those she loved and the lives she impacted.
As we bid farewell to Patricia Joyce Greenfield, we celebrate a life rich in love, faith, and kindness. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared by her family and the countless lives she touched. Pat's journey on this earth has ended, but her spirit remains a guiding light for all who were privileged to know her.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Patricia Joyce Greenfield will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with her beloved husbands and her son David, and many family members in the embrace of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life.
