Charles Wayne Gatlin, 85, of Madisonville, Kentucky passed away on Monday January 29, 2024 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.
He was born February 13, 1938 in Madisonville to the late William Charles "W.C." Gatlin and Elizabeth "Beth" Owen Berry Gatlin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Faye Nance Gatlin; two sisters, Betty Stanley and Judy Adkins; and one brother, Bobby Gatlin.
He was a member of the UMWA and worked as a Coal Miner for several coal companies. He attended First United Methodist Church in Madisonville, and a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was very social and always loved cooking for people, and he was known for his fish frys. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, and visiting with friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Lori (Joey) Dickerson of Madisonville and Tara (Jason) Ford of Columbia, TN; four grandchildren, Kyle (Nicole) Dickerson of Fort Myers, FL, Mallory (Mark) Johnson of Madisonville, and Connor and Ryan Ford of Columbia; five great-grandchildren, June and Nora Johnson, and Gatlin, Rylee, and Harper Dickerson; and several nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday February 1, 2024 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with Mr. Matt Ogden officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery.
