John T. Flannery was born in 1883 in Texas. He was the son of Martin Flannery (b 1853, Illinois) and Mary (b 1858, Ireland). He had two sisters, Catherine (b 1888) and Gracey (b 1889) and one brother, William A (b 1892). He married Esther Josephine Briscoe Large on 19 October 1905 in Hunt County, Texas. He and Esther lived in Ennis, Ellis County, Texas. They moved to Durant, Oklahoma some time after 1930. There were no children born in this marriage. His wife Esther died in 1956 in Durant. John died in Durant in 1959 and is buried next to his wife in Highland Cemetery.
