Vada F. Hainline, age 96, Joplin, passed away at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Spring River Christian Village.

Vada was born August 3, 1913 in Little River, Kansas to the late Daniel H. Crawford and Katie Sellers Crawford.

She graduated from Kansas State University in 1935 and received a master's degree from Pittsburg State University. She began her teaching career in 1935 and taught in several schools in Kansas; Oklahoma and retired from the Joplin School District in 1974, where she taught algebra in both junior and senior high schools.

She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church; Delta Kappa Gamma; Audubon Society and the Freeman Health System Auxiliary.

She enjoyed the outdoors; watching birds; traveling and fishing.

Vada married Robert Hainline on June 6, 1943 in Little River, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1986.

Survivors include three nieces, Delores F. Cleavenger, Bellevue, Nebraska, Donja Stephenson and her husband, Rich, Encinitas, California, Connie Shetlar and her husband, Richard, Richland, Washington; one nephew, Jim Cleavenger, Overland Park, Kansas; two great nieces, Danielle Stephenson and Debbie Klinger; and one great nephew, Dean Shetlar.

Services are planned for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Louise Reed will officiate.

Interment will follow on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Bean Cemetery, Little River, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, in care of Parker Mortuary. www.parkermortuary.com
