Rickey Ladon Abbott was born on April 30, 1959, in Athens, Texas to the late Charles Ray Abbott and Betty Duane Head. Surrounded by his loving family, Rickey went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2024 at his home in Murchison, Texas.
Growing up, Mr. Abbott attended Malakoff schools before becoming a truck driver and later a heavy equipment operator. He loved to run heavy equipment and did so until his health would not allow him too anymore.

Rickey loved to ride motorcycles and was an avid fan of old rock and roll music. His favorite saying was: Jesus is my religion. He was a lover of nature and all that God created outdoors. As much as he enjoyed all of these things, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He shared 45 years of marriage with his wife, Beth Beard Abbott. They enjoyed many wonderful adventures together traveling to different places. Their greatest accomplishments though, were their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Papa Rick adored his great grandsons, Elio and Oaklynd, and they brought so much joy into his life.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his granddaughter Avery Ladon Abbott, brother Randy Abbott and sisters Wendy Stewart and Connie Warrick.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Beth Abbott, daughters Tammy Wilkins and Bryan of Larue and Judy Jenkins and Michael "Stretch" Jenkins of Pecos; Grandchildren Alexus Abbott and Austin Montez of Monahans, Kinley Harper and Riley of Palestine, Elizabeth Kozlovsky and Frank Cisneros of Tyler and Gretchen Kozlovsky of Murchison; Great Grandchildren Elio Cisneros of Tyler and Oaklynd Harper of Palestine; Siblings Duana Gray and Terry of Malakoff and Charles Ray Abbott "Timer" and Alex Stewart of Corsicana and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Steve Fonner, Danny Morrison, Mark Gray, Ricky Joe Abbott, Shane Bennett, Chris Beard.
