GEORGE W. BEAL DIES AT HOME

George W. Beal, aged 65 years, and of the most prominent residents and church
workers of the New Salem district, died at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon,
June 14, 1933, in his home following an illness of complications covering a
period of three months. Mr. Beal was a native of Fayette county and a son of
the late Samuel and Mary Jane Beal having been born January 10, 1868.
A member and active worker of the New Salem Christian church Mr. Beal
also served that congregation as an elder. He was a painter by trade and a
member of New Salem Council No. 100, Jr. O. U. A. M. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Mrs. Artie Jeffries Beal by about 18 years.
Surviving are: four children, Howard, Alice and Emmett Beal, at home; Mrs.
Robert E. McBurney, of Wheeling, W. Va.; two brothers, Joseph Beal, of
Riverside, Cal., Brice Beal, of New Salem; and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth
Poundstone, Mrs. Emma Gadd and Mrs. Margaret Dearth, all residents of New Salem.
Rev. Lawrence R. Doak, pastor of the New Salem Christian church, will conduct
funeral services in the family residence Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. He will be
assisted by Rev. R. G. Manley, of the Christian church of Republic, and Rev.
W. H. Kilgore, pastor of the New Salem Presbyterian church. Burial in the
Presbyterian cemetery, New Salem.
Pallbearers, both active and honorary, are the members of the official board
of the Christian church. The active pallbearers are: Ernest Coffman, George
Malone, Bert McBurney, Okey Ryan, Robert Seaton and Herman Gween.
Honorary - William Delo, Elmer Hoop, Charles Pastorius, Charles Matthews
and J. W. Cramer.
