Ronald Grant Jones, 77, of 79 January Drive passed away at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at his residence. Born July 17, 1930, in Pikeville, Ky., he was a son of the late Rutherford Hayes Jones Sr. and Ethel Bevins Jones Shuemate.
Mr. Jones retired from the former ConAgra of Crozet as a truck driver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris C. Jones; a son, Victor Gregory "Greg" Jones; and two brothers, Ralph and Sonny Jones. Survivors include his wife, Arbutis "Bootie" Jones; a son, Jan Jones and his wife, Kim, of Raphine; a daughter, Patti Matheny of Stuarts Draft; three brothers, Jack Jones of Texas, Hayes Jones Jr. of South Carolina and John Jones of North Carolina; a sister, Mary Evelyn John of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Shawn Jones, Cody Matheny, Shasta Reeves and Jordan and Jodi Jones; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Roy Trump officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Kenny Beverly, Sam Sensabaugh, Tommy Campbell, Harry Bradley, Doug Bibb and Cecil Lucas.
Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends attending the service.
