JACKSON — Mr. John R. Tromans, 78, of Jackson, died Saturday, March 5, in Greensboro.

Mr. Tromans was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Shifnal, England, the son of the late Joseph A. Tromans and Pattie Tromans. He was retired from Weldon Roofing Company.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, DeRother Boone Tromans; son, Mike Tromans and wife, Rita, of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Margaret Lassiter, of Newport News, Va.; granddaughters, Amanda Hester and Amy Bennett and her husband, Dennis; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Madelyn and Dracen.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Monday, March 7, at Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson. The Rev. Warren Heitzenrater, the Rev. Bob Johnson and the Rev. Sue Owens officiated. Burial followed in Jackson Cemetery.

The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday, March 6, at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home.
