Rockbridge Baths Resident Dies At Age 78
Francis (Fran) E. Bloxton, Jr., 78, of Rockbridge Baths, Virginia, passed away January 4, 2024.

He was born in Lexington on May 1, 1945 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, son of the late Francis E. Bloxton Sr. and Kathleen Watts Bloxton.

He was a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam.

He was employed by the Department of Defense for 18 years, retiring in 1989 to his farm in Rockbridge Baths.

He and his wife were avid trap shooters and belonged to Stonewall Rifle and Pistol Club, Virginia Trap Association and the Amateur Trap Association and the NRA. He was a member of American Legion Post 0284 Colonial Heights and the Moose Lexington Lodge 1700.

He is survived by his wife Diane, at home; daughter Julia K. Green of Marysville, Calif.; son, Francis E. Bloxton III of Moses Lake, Wash.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The funeral will be conducted January 15 at McElwee Chapel, Rockbridge Baths, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at McElwee Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Grant, Luke Grant, Logan Grant, Colby Conner, Roy Wade and Francis E. Bloxton III.
