Jimmie Fugate Mize passed away January 13, 2024, at home at the age of 97.

She was born in Claiborne County, TN in the community of Little Sycamore on February 4, 1926. Her family moved to Blount County in 1937 where her father purchased a farm. The family raised cattle, tobacco, and corn. Jimmie was devoted to her family.

She was preceded by her husband of 68 years, Max Earl Mize, their infant son, Robert Earl Mize, her parents, Elisha F. Fugate and Jenny Edds Fugate, sisters, Mary Alice McCall, Wilma Madge Akers, and Betty Ann Taylor, brothers, Earl Franklin Fugate, Don Edds Fugate, and Lon Henley Fugate, brothers-in-law, Gordon McCall and Branson Akers, niece, Christy Fugate, nephews, Stacy and Dan Fugate, Jon Taylor, and David Prather.

Jimmie was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church since 1955. She worked at Alcoa for 34 years and was a member of the 25-year club. She worked as a purchasing specialist. Jimmie spent her leisure time helping her husband on their farm where they raised Angus cattle. Jimmie was an avid reader who also loved to cook and work in the garden.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Mize Dunlap, son in law, Doyle Dunlap, and beloved Granddaughter, Emily Louise Dunlap, Brothers, Bob (June) Fugate, Gearld (Mary Hazel) Fugate, and Michael (Shelia) Fugate, Brother-in-law, Charles Taylor, and sister-in-law, Linda, and Marge Fugate.

Family and friends will meet at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home for a funeral service at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. The Reverend Jerry Mantooth will officiate. She will be interred in Grandview Cemetery.

The service has been re-scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23rd, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The Reverend Jerry Mantooth will officiate. She will be interred in Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Monte Vista Baptist Church building fund.
