Well-known Matron's Passing Is Mourned
A stroke suffered Sunday brought death yesterday to Mrs. Mary L. Kester, well-known in Susanville.
Mrs. Kester was stricken at the Secret Valley flag-raising ceremonies and succumbed at her home in the Fruit Growers apartments.
She was born 69 years ago in Illinois and had resided in Lassen county for fifteen years.
She was the widow of the late William B. Kester and the mother of H. H. and I. W. Kester of Susanville and O. S. Kester of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma man arrived here in time to be with his mother before the end.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon from the Edenholm chapel. Reverend E. L. Spaulding will give the eulogy and members of the Susanville American Legion will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will be in the New Susanville cemetery.
