Evie was born in Canton, South Dakota on January 31, 1947. Her family moved to Minnesota in 1954. She graduated from North St. Paul High School in 1964.

She met her loving husband, James and soon married on September 27, 1968. They were blessed with three children, Eugene in 1972, Jerome in 1978 and Charles in 1980. They raised their children on a farm in Braham, MN. Evie and Jim later retired and moved to Mora, MN where she enjoyed her time visiting with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Melvina, siblings Wesley (Nancy), Rebecca Buttz, Richard (Cindy) and nephew Thomas.

She is survived by her husband James; sons Gene, Jerry (Kelly) and Charles (Kandice); grandchildren Nicholas Compton, Kathryn (Jerry) Selix, Alex (Mae) Berneking, Domonic Larson, Sam Berneking, Oliver Berneking, Mason Berneking and Milo Berneking; brother Robert (Carol); brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger Berneking , Dale Berneking, Paul (Linda) Berneking and Ethel Rasmusson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
