Jan had a lifelong passion for travel, learning, animals and genealogy. She was an instructor, a learner, and a trainer of her Bichon Frise's. She traveled entering her dogs in confirmation and agility competitions.
Jan had traced her ancestry back to a Patriot, and became a Daughter of the American Revolution (DAR) member with the Union Mission Chapter in Pryor. She also traced her ancestry back to a Confederate and became a member of The United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) with the General Clement A. Evans Chapter in Tulsa. Additionally, Jan traced another line of her ancestry back to a Union solider and became a member-at-large of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War (DUVCW). Her most recent search was connecting to a Mayflower ancestor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Safety Reuel First and Winniefred LaVerne, and brother Jerry Dale First.
Survivors include a brother, Bob A. First and wife Jan Nell of Tulsa, and numerous cousins.
A private service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be interred. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Welfare/Rescue Organizations.
