Warren Thomas Biggs was born on October 27, 1944, to parents Mouzon and Tula Biggs in Carthage, Texas. He passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at his home in Carthage at age 79. Warren graduated from Carthage High School in 1963. During his college education at Southern Methodist University, Warren enlisted in the US Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1967-1968. After being honorably discharged, Warren worked for the Dallas Police Department for seven years, ending his career there with the Dallas SWAT team. On December 5th, 1970, Warren married Toni Trimble, and they enjoyed over 53 years together.
In 1977, Warren began his 44-year banking career. When Panola National Bank was chartered in 1983, Warren was hired as president and spent the next 38 years leading the bank to success in Carthage and Panola County.
Warren was an active member of the Carthage community for over 40 years. He served on the Carthage ISD School Board for 11 years and presided as President for his last 4 years. Warren was an active member of the Carthage Noon Lions Club, former president, and enjoyed the service and camaraderie with his fellow Lions. Warren was also an integral part of creating the Carthage ISD Education Foundation, serving as its founding president in 2002. This organization helps bridge the gap in school funding for Carthage ISD, provides annual scholarships, and teacher grants to each campus in Carthage.
Warren was a longtime member and a past master of the Carthage Masonic Lodge # 521 AF&AM, the York Rite, the Waco Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Sharon Temple Shrine. Warren was a founding board member of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. He was actively involved in the methodist church throughout his life, serving in many capacities. Warren and Toni have been members of First Methodist Church Carthage since 2016.
Warren and Toni raised their two sons, Brian and Brett, in Carthage and spent many years traveling for band trips, football games, and other school competitions. For the last 21 years of his life, Warren enjoyed being "Big Dad" to his three grandkids whom he loved dearly. Big Dad enjoyed riding them around in his red jeep, exploring trails in the Rangers at the Biggs family farm, and supporting them in all of their activities.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Allison Biggs.
