Nora Mae Howard, 93, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, surrounded by her family, at Carriage Crossing, Decatur.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials in Nora's honor may be made to: Good Samaritan Inn or Meals on Wheels of Decatur.
Nora was born May 15, 1930, in Casner, IL, the daughter of Francis Leroy and Nellie (Sidwell) Landacre. She married Leo J. Howard on July 1, 1948 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2010.
Nora worked at Soy Capital Bank for many years, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening, and collecting seashells. Nora was a member of Woodland Chapel Presbyterian Church, and volunteered for Good Samaritan Inn and Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her son, L. Joseph "Joe" Howard, Jr. and wife Judy of Springfield, IL; daughter, Lenore K. Howard of Decatur; granddaughter, Sarah Smithson and husband Anthony of Hillsborough, NC; great grandchildren, Alex and Leo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Leo; sisters: Imogene Ewing, Mary Etta Lourash, Eilene Limes, Gladys "Peggy" Jordan; and one brother, Nelson Landacre.
