Ruth Hillendahl Wolfe Plumb passed away January 4, 2024, in Port Lavaca, Tx. She was born in Houston Texas to Arnold and Etta Williams Hillendahl on June 10, 1923. Her ancestors settled in the 1840's in Hillendahl, TX, which later became known as the Spring Branch Area of Houston. She grew up on the family farm with her 3 siblings and attended St. Peter Lutheran Church. After graduating from Addicks High School she later met and married Charles Melvin (Mel) Wolfe in 1943. After WW II they returned to Spring Branch and in 1949 opened and operated Wolfe's Humble gas station, the first in the area, on Long Point Road. They were very involved with the Spring Branch Lions Club and enjoyed their lives until Mel's sudden passing in 1963. In 1973 she married John Plumb and they moved to Katy. John passed away in 1978. Ruth continued to work and in 1985 she and her niece Carol owned and operated Frame Gallery II until 1995 when she retired. She moved back to Spring Branch in 2005 to be nearer family and lived there until 2016 when, after an illness, she moved to Port Lavaca, Tx to be nearer Carol and her husband John. She happily lived at Trinity Shores Assisted Living until her passing.

In addition to her parents and husbands she is preceded by sister Rosie Savage and husband R. D., brother Arnold Hillendahl and wife Mildred, brother Herbert Hillendahl and wife Jeanne, and nephews Billy and John Hillendahl. She is survived by many generations of nieces and nephews. The family expresses gratitude to the staff of Trinity Shores for the excellent care she received for 7 years and especially the loving and gentle care she received the last month of her life. She loved you all. We also thank Hospice of South Texas for the compassionate care she received in making her passing painless and peaceful.

Pallbearers are John Haverfield, Robert Savage, Donnie Hillendahl, Mike Haverfield, Kevin Hillendahl, Daniel Hillendahl, Wayne Brown, Buddy Dilley, and Gilbert Bayardo.
