Coradean "Corky" Z Camery
APRIL 5, 1925 – OCTOBER 30, 2023

Coradean Zike Camery "Corky", surrounded by her loving family, passed from this earthly life onto her next great adventure on Monday, October 30, 2023. She was born on April 5, 1925, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Gustavia Pauline Brewer and Kenneth Andrew Zike. She grew up in Dallas, Texas where she learned to walk and talk and then in Cincinnati Ohio. She then met Ralph Paul Camery and they married on December 2nd 1944 in Covington Kentucky. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints and were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Utah Temple August 8, 1968. They were married for 52 years. Together they had 3 sons.
Corky always thirsted for knowledge and adventure. She was a gifted student and was chosen to go to an accelerated school. Unfortunately, it was the Depression Era and her family could not afford the small bus fare that was needed to get her there. Her love of reading and the gift of writing was still ever present as she continued with this all her life. It was said that she was never without a pencil and paper in hand. She has blessed us with countless spiral notebooks of her writings. She wrote stories about things she had seen and experienced in her life, which she called Corky's Chronicles. She had a way with words and when you read these stories you were there with her. They became real to you too and it was a pleasure to be along for the ride. She was also very dedicated to writing in her diary. She wrote daily for over 60 years. She took pride in that accomplishment and her Diary Collection is stored in the Church Library. She was a storyteller, not only on paper but in person as well. She was always very happy to have an audience to sit with. She never seemed to tire or run out of wonderful things to share.

Corky loved life. She always got up, put one foot in front of the other and moved forward whatever came her way. She looked for the good. She loved people and never met a stranger. She would always find something interesting in others and respected them as an important child of God. She was funny and loved to laugh, finding humor in the simplest of things. She loved nature and marveled at the beauty that this world had to offer and thanked the Lord daily for creating it for us to enjoy. She loved horses, old western books and cowboy shows.

Corky loved deeply. Her family was most important to her. Genealogy was a passion that she spent many years working on. She felt that connection was a great blessing in her life. She was great at keeping in touch with people. She had many lifelong friends and she cherished them. She was one of a kind and a blessing to all for 98 years. Of all her accomplishments she is most proud that she was faithful to the end.

Corky is survived by her son Ralph Randy Camery, sisters; Juanita Ostrewich, Rose Durham, and Laverne Dawn Shumway (Robert), 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph Paul Camery, sons; Phillip Bobby Camery and Kenneth Daniel Camery, sister Colleen Zike, brothers Kenneth Samuel Zike and Robert Earl Zike and grandsons, Christoffer Chad Grace and David Phillip Camery.
