Obituary
Barbara Jean (Allen) Cosby of Sapulpa passed from this life and into eternity with Jesus on Wednesday April 5, 2023, at the age of 87. at home surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born on December 11, 1935 in Sapulpa to T. Howard and Mary Allen and was a lifelong Sapulpa resident. She gave her heart to Jesus in 1945 at age 10, the same year as her Daddy. She was baptized at the old First Baptist Church, the current day "Brick". She was a founding member of Westside Baptist Church and a long-time member at Pickett Prairie Baptist Church. She sang in the choir, played the piano, helped with funeral dinners and went on FAITH visits. She would not turn down a job when asked.

Barbara worked in her early years at Southwestern Bell and later worked for 35 years at Mid-Continent Casualty Co. as the File Room Supervisor.

She married the love of her life Bill Cosby on November 23, 1960 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage until Bill passed away on April 9, 2018. They were blessed with three loving sons: Doug, Todd and Phillip.

Barbara was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and truly the glue that held the family together. She was a great example of what it looks like to be a Christian and it was witnessed by all who knew her. A verse that sums it up well is "Esteem others better than yourself". She always put the needs of others above her own and would never complain even while enduring much discomfort in the last couple years. She has been praised by her neighbors, hospice care workers, friends and family for her spirit but she would make sure God gets all the glory.

Barbara was a wonderful cook and never made a bad dish other than the liver Dad requested. Meatballs, dressing, spaghetti, meatloaf and even beans and fried potatoes were gourmet treats. She even fried shrimp and took the kids to the Tee Pee Drive-in. She enjoyed her "TV Preachers", Hallmark movies and reading her Bible.

Barbara was THE caregiver for many family members and always exhibited a strength and grace that we all so admired. She loved, loved her grandkids and great-grandkids and they could always bring a smile to her face. She spoiled them all and they will be forever grateful for having such wonderful grandparents. And her sons rise up and call her blessed! She was the greatest mother ever and we are thankful to God to have her all these years!

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Cosby, son Doug Warren, sister Mary Louise Keith, brother George F. Allen and great-grandson Garrett Smith.

She is survived by sons Todd (LaNay) and Phillip (Shelia), five grandchildren Jymmi Hampton (Michael), Erin Cosby, Missy Rowland (Matt), Kyle Cosby (Aleshia) and Luke Cosby, and 14 great-grandchildren Sierra, Spencer, Kirsten, Hunter, Tyler, Allison, Aiden, Paisley, Landon, Kenneth, Aubrey, Shaylee, Liam and Matthew, Jr., and many numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Live Well Hospice and Sherri Miller for their exceptional care and for Mom's dear friend Evelyn Stephens for her many visits through all the tough weeks. God bless you all!

Visitation will be from 2:00pm-4:00pm, Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville. Services will be 2:00pm, Monday, April 10, 2023, also at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville with Rev. Bill Oldham officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Sapulpa.
