Charles Waylon Bain, age 80, passed away at his home on December 31, 2023.

Funeral services were held on January 1, 2024 at Carson Ridge Baptist Church; visitation was at 2 pm with services at 3 pm. Burial was in Carson Ridge Cemetery.

Charles was born in Attala County and graduated from Ethel High School in 1961. After high school, he joined the United States Army where he served overseas in Korea, Germany, Vietnam, and various locations in the States. He left the army as a Staff Sergeant in 1970 after meeting his wife. He came home to Mississippi, raised a family, and became known for his carpentry and mechanical skills.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Waylon and Opal Bain; 2 brothers, Grady Lamar Bain and Jimmie Dale Bain.

Charles is survived by his wife, Alta Williams Bain, son Donald Waylon Bain, daughters Lora Bain Beckham (Greg), and Rebecca Gail Harris (John). He is survived by 7 grandchildren, Laura Gail Harris, Charlotte Harris, Isaac Waylon Harris, Carleeanne Beckham, Harley Beckham, Selby Beckham, and Joseph Beckham, and 1 great-grandchild, Greyson Charles Harris. He is also survived by one sister, Syble Bain Burchfield: his brothers Ralph, Ronnie, Glennis, Harvey, Randy and Nickey Bain, and a host of nieces and nephews, and friends.

Serving as Pall Bearers were his grandson Isaac Waylon Harris, and a few of his nephews: Charles Edwin Bain, Ronald Bain, Jr., Dylan Bain, Sonny Shelton, Hayden Bain and Tony Ellis.

Culpepper Funeral Home of Kosciusko was in charge of arrangements.
