Janet S. Endris, 81, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the I.U. Hospice House in Bloomington. Born March 6, 1942, she was the daughter of Estel and Mildred (Wever) Hawkins. She married James E. Endris on September 19, 1990 and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2005.
Janet was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1960. She then attended St. Mary of the Woods and Marian University studying Nursing. She had been a Pharmacy Tech at Crowders Drugs, Taylors Drugs, and for hospitals. She was a member of Erie Methodist Church, a contributor to several books about local cemeteries and was co-founder of the Bishop Roberts Memorial at Lawrenceport.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Janet are her two daughters, Cyndi (Mike) Terrell of Bedford and Marci (Dave) Volz of Bloomington; two sons, Kin (Jenny) Hubbard of Terre Haute and Marty Endris of Bedford; Grandchildren, Jamie Deeter, Laura Gentry, Bryan Osborne, Kiersten DeWees, Kory Whaley, Kourtney Spurgeon, Audie Manning, Eliza Jahnke, Van Endris, Dain Endris, Drake Volz, Drew Volz and Deakin Volz; and 13 great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Barbara Milligan; her brother, David Hawkins; and her dogs, Boots and Ben.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Wednesday, also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Janet to the Shriners Children's Hospitals.
