John Adams, 68, of Alpena passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 with his partner Sandy of 35 years by his side.

John was born December 15, 1954 in Portland, IN to the late James and Jean (Holman) Adams.

He worked in sales most of his working years before retiring in 2005 due to health reasons. John was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He believed that the 4th of July was the most important holiday, no gifts just have fun and party! He always said without that day we wouldn't have our freedom for the other holidays! He believed in supporting ours troops during war time and especially when they come home. John loved a good party, cooking, and just plain having fun. He had a kind heart and a quick wit. He was always willing to help friends and family. No matter what life brought his way, including declining health, he seldom complained. He was genuinely one of the good ones! "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a ride!" Happy trails, Skid! Until we meet again. "Another angel got his wings today"!

John is survived by his partner, Sandy Zielaskowski and best fur friend, Lilly. He is further survived by his sister, Jane (Patrick) Witkowski and nephews, Kyle (Trisha) Schmit, Evan (Lindsay) Schmit, James (Elizabeth) Schmit; great-nephews, Ethan and Calvin Schmit, Vinny Baumhofer; and great-niece, Mila Schmit. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Adams.
