It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Aleathea "Granny" Richard. She passed away at her home, surrounded by family, after battling multiple health issues for five years.

Aleathea was born in Oney, Oklahoma on February 11,1938 to Wray and Dorotha Anderson. She owned the Ski Boy in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma and drove an 18-wheeler for many years. In her recent years she was a caretaker for the elderly and babysat everyone's children. She never met a stranger, and her door was always open to "literally" anyone in need. She took in and raised too many kids to count and was always everyone's safe place to go, even if it was just for advice. She'd get you fixed up, back on track with love, and never had a judgmental thing to say.

She was very creative and loved making her beaded Indian jewelry, crocheting, and sewing. Being a "jack of all trades", she could fix anything by taking something old and making it new again.

She loved drinking coffee, visiting with friends and family, and talking about old memories. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her so much joy, and she adored moments spent with them, especially when "beating" everyone in Wahoo.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Bill Jones (Viola) of McLoud, OK, and Kirk Richard (Lori) of Iota, LA; daughters, Nancy Ritter of Iota, LA, Erika Averette (Thomas) of Rayne, LA, and Sabrina Fontenot (Jacob) of Jonesboro, LA; daughter in law Lynn Richard of Lafayette, LA; bonus daughter Gwen Laferr of Belleville, AR; sisters Karen Newton (Jerry) of Oklahoma City, OK, Georgia Crha (Jerry) of Oklahoma City, OK, Edith Johnson of Anadarko, Oklahoma, and Barbie Goucher (Kenneth) of Oklahoma City, OK; sister in laws, Shelia Bilyeu, Louisa Bilyeu, Peggy Loverson, and Terri Anderson; grandchildren Mary Brand, Lisa Herring, Ryan Aymond, Justin Aymond, Andre Aymond, Jessica Aymond, Alita Ritter, Kassie Cormier, Kylie Stelly, Joshua Richard, Steven Richard, Billie Lyons, Kendell Leger, Kori Leckelt, Kade Leger, Landon Richard, Raven Malone, Kristopher Fontenot, and Alex Fontenot; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Bryanna, Caleb, Nicholas, Tristan, Landon, Katilyn, Alyssa, Caleb, Kyler, Hazel Rose, Abby, Bubba, Rayleigh, Kameron, Kason, Laiksey, Baili, Mia, Dylan, Aubrey, Bailey, Ella, Blake, Laike, Ryp, Wyatt, Austin, Vaeh, Chad Jr. (Moose), Anah, Jax, Asher, Phoenix and soon to be great grandson Bennett; Godchildren Aleathea Daigle and Aleathea Landry; many nieces, nephews and her beloved wiener dog "Sissy".

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wray and Lillie Anderson; son, Carl Richard; granddaughter, Dana Leblanc; mother Dorthea Askins; brothers Dixie Loverson, Kenneth Anderson, Donald Bilyeu, and Carl Bilyeu; maternal grandparents, George and Dora Lovell; paternal grandparents, Dixie and Dorotha Anderson; sister in law, Clota Anderson; brother in laws, Ole Johnson and Henry Murry.

Aleathea's family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and yet another bonus daughter and her caregiver Maranda Prejean.

Arrangements will be at a later date. She will be laid to rest with her father in Oklahoma.
