Born on October 26, 1947, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a son of the late John DeGasto Sr. and Evelyn DeGasto. Roger lived a fulfilling life and leaves behind cherished memories.

Roger served his country with pride as a Vietnam War veteran in the United States Air Force. He displayed his patriotic values throughout his life and was a proud supporter of the Second Amendment. Roger's journey brought him to Dallas, Georgia, where he worked as a firetruck mechanic. His service extended to the Department of Defense, where he worked diligently in finance. Roger's exceptional skills and attention to detail earned him recognition, including a Secret Service hat and certificate for his work on a presidential vehicles.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Roger found solace in his passions. He had an extraordinary talent for diagnosing and fixing anything. He adored Ford Mustangs and cherished his collection of guns, finding excitement and fulfillment in these hobbies.

Roger was known for his impeccable financial management skills, always ensuring that his affairs were in order. His meticulous nature extended beyond his personal finances, as he approached every aspect of his life with precision and care. Beyond his professional achievements and hobbies, Roger possessed a compassionate spirit. He served as a caregiver to his loved ones, providing unwavering support and lending a helping hand whenever it was needed.

The compassionate staff at the hospital, touched by Roger's kindness, even came to bid him farewell. Roger loved his wife and family with unconditional love. In his eyes the sun rose and set with his one and only granddaughter Ginny Smith.

In addition to his parents, Roger is preceded in death by a brother, John DeGasto Jr.; his father-in-law, Robert Poole; and his mother-in-law, Lefa Poole.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diana DeGasto; a daughter, Shawna Smith; a son, Roger DeGasto II; a granddaughter, Ginny Smith; a sister, Darlene Oliver; a brother, Terry (Vickie) DeGasto; and his dog, Loki.

A memorial service celebrating Roger's life will be scheduled at a later date.
