Betty Jean Karnes, 88, of Monticello, passed away at 6:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Betty was born February 7, 1935, in Tuscola, IL, to John and Pansy (Barnes) Auten. She married Leonard Russell Karnes on November 21, 1958, in Monticello, IL.
Betty is survived by her husband; three children, two daughters and one son;7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great- grandchildren and a sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Barb Burke and Mary Gallaher and sister, Pauline Denton.
Betty worked at the Dairy Queen, in Monticello for 44 years and was a member of the Monticello Church of the Nazarene. A celebration of life service will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Monticello Church of the Nazarene.
Memorials may be given to the Monticello Church of the Nazarene.
