From The Eveleth News (published 2/5/1931):
"Mrs. Mathilda K. Jesmore, wife of the late Charles Jesmore, prominent Eveleth citizen, died suddenly Tuesday morning from a heart attack at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alexander King of Chisholm. Mrs. Jesmore had suffered a broken ankle on December 27 as the result of a fall and this is thought to have hastened her death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jesmore will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Presbyterian church here with the D. D. Jansen officiating. Interment will be made in the Eveleth cemetery with Helps, funeral directors, in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Jesmore was 66 years old at the time of her death and was a resident of the Vermillion and Mesaba Ranges for the past 45 years. She came to Tower in 1886, iving there until 1894 when the family moved to Eveleth. Mr. Jesmore, who was postmaster here for eight years, a member of the school board, president of the village, first mayor of the city, under its present charter and in many other ways actively engaged as a prominent citizen, died on January 1, 1923. Upon the death of her husband she moved to Coleraine, where she resided until recently with her daughter, when they moved to Chisholm.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. King and Mrs. Harvey S. Hoshour of Minneapolis; one son, D. A. Murray of Virginia; a brother, Alfred Johnson of Superior and a sister, Mrs. Frank Carlson of Eveleth."
