Billie Sue Fisher Armstrong, age 89, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Decatur Health and Rehab. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM atMemory Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Hallman officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Armstrong; father, James L. Fisher; mother, Nellie Mae Hooks Fisher; sisters, Frances Mattison, Barbara Sexton, Janice Barton and Marjorie Lovett.

She is survived by her sons, James Dennis Armstrong (Susan) and Richard Anthony Armstrong (Becky); isters, Martha Faye Hall, Jane Evans and Darlene McDaniel; grandchildren, Brittney Armstrong, Tiffany Kovac, Byron James Armstrong (Kate), Anthony Brad Armstrong (Sarah), and Richard Heath Armstrong (Tyanna); 9 great grandchildren.

Born Billie Sue Fisher in Holt, Alabama on January 24, 1934; 1 of 8 daughters to James L. and Nellie Mae Fisher. She was a 1952 graduate of Holt High School. After graduation, she worked for a couple years at Gulf States Paper. On January 21, 1955, she married James Armstrong and they had two sons: Dennis and Richard.

They lived in several locations including Tuscaloosa, Decatur, Georgia, and Baker, LA before moving back to Tuscaloosa in 1996. After James' death, Billie volunteered for many years at the Cancer Center in Tuscaloosa. She was a member of East McFarland Baptist Church while she lived in Tuscaloosa, which she loved being a member.

As her health declined, she moved near family in Decatur, Alabama and passed away at Decatur Health and Rehab Nursing facility.

Pallbearers will be BJ Armstrong, Brad Armstrong, Heath Armstrong, Nephews, White Armstrong and Holden Armstrong.

Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Evans and Johnny McDaniel.
