Funeral services for Opal will be Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Bibb-Veach Funeral Homes and Crematory. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Opal was born July 24, 1926 in Ashley, Missouri to Herman and Sally (Parsons) Bell. She was united in marriage to Glen Elder in Ashley. He preceded her in death.
Opal grew up in Ashley and attended Ashley Elementary School. She attended high school at Louisiana High School. Following graduation, Opal went to work. She had worked as a seamstress at Bridal Originals and Bobby Brooks, and also worked at the shoe factory in Hannibal. Opal enjoyed sewing, cooking, and shopping. She had volunteered in the kitchen at the High Rise. Opal attended White Rose Baptist Church, and was very active in the church.
Opal is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Bland of Florissant, Missouri, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Shirley Willis of Bowling Green, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sons, Marvin Elder and Carl Bell Sr.
Memorials may be made to White Rose Baptist Church.
