Anna Olivia (Annie) Nilsson was the daughter of Olof Nilsson and Maria Johansdotter. Anna was born February 1, 1886 in Garde, Aspas, Sweden. She came to Canada, with her mother and 3 Siblings, Maria Christina, Olof Oliver and Goran (my grandfather) on the boats "Domino" (from Trondheim, Norway to Liverpool, England and the second one unknown at this time and arrived in New York City on December 6, 1888. They took a train into Canada and finally arrived in Whitewood, Saskatchewan on December 10, 1888. They were met there by father Olof, brothers Nils and Johannis and sister Brita, who had come over earlier to Canada in March 1888.
The family settled in Assiniboia, North West Territories, Saskatchewan now, specifically the Stockholm area. Here another son, Oscar was born. By 1893, tragedy struck with the deaths of first mother, Maria and about a year later, Oscar.
Anna married Jesse Adams . They had 1 child together, a son, Claud Adams. Jesse, who was a railway trainman, was killed in a railway accident when Claud (born December 30, 1908) was 2 and a half years old, about midsummer 1911.
In 1919, Anna married for a second time to Hugo Johnson in Lund, British Columbia. They had one son, Hugo Andrew Johnson. In Lund, Hugo was a builder of fishing boats. He stayed there for the 1920's and 1930's. After, they moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Hugo worked for the Burrard Drydock Company there. The couple had a small two story house at 2321 Columbia Ave., not far from the Vancouver City Hall.
Annie was described as a quiet, gentle person. When she married Hugo, she became step-mother to 4 of his children from a previous marriage. She cared for these children just like her own 2 children. At one point, Anna moved to 879 Seymour Street, Vancouver, where her father, Olof who had been living with her passed way on February 17, 1912. Annie died August 24, 1957 from cancer of the rectum, in Vancouver at the age of 72 years.(Thank you to Susan R. on Findagrave for sending that info. from the cemetery records).
Anna was buried on August 27,1957 near her father and sister Brita Nilsson Pudiphatt at Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver. A volunteer, Susan r. tried to locate Anna's headstone and found that the grave was unmarked.
