Maria Laura Felts, 88, died Monday, December 18, 2023, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gluckstadt with burial immediately following in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. A Rosary will be said at 9:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mrs. Felts was born on December 20, 1934, to the late Guadelupe and Refugio Lopez. A resident of Ridgeland, she was Senior Executive Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director of the Mississippi Employment Security Commission for approximately 30 years. Mrs. Felts was a member of the Retirees Club and Mount Scholastica Alumnae.
She enjoyed painting, ceramics, crocheting and playing dominoes with her family.
Along with her parents, Guadelupe and Refugio Mendez Lopez, she is preceded by her brothers and sisters, Josephine Guardado, Alberta Lopez, Connie Olvera, Lupe Galley, Tina Black, Bob and Jose Lopez.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 66 years, Hollis Lee Felts of Ridgeland, MS; daughter, Laura (Kevin) Bachkora; daughter, Michelle (Markus) Swing; son, Steven (Lynn) Felts and son, Hollis Lee Felts, III. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bryan (Julie) Bachkora; Greg (Abby) Bachkora; Katie (Michael) Rowland; Kellie (Daniel) Drinkall; Maggie (Madhav) Saxena; Matthew Swing; Michael Swing; Cody (Sarah) Swing; Bryan Felts; great grandchildren, Beatrice and William Bachkora; Olivia, Maggie, Jack and Philip Rowland; and Josie and Mae Bachkora.
