Died, while attending church, on the 6th inst., Stephen W. Barstow, aged 73 yrs, 9 months and 8 days. Was born in Belfast, Maine, January 29, 1808. Was married December 25th 1826, to Miss Mary Galer, who was two years his senior, and is still living. They raised nine children, seven of whom are living, four here in Kansas, and three in Ohio. They have 38 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Brother Barstow was a professed Christian for over 54 years, and died with the harness on all bright. His last words were as he spoke in class meeting – "I will stand up for the truth as long as I live". He sat down and died without a struggle, almost instantly. He let his light shine all along the pathway of life. For every little child long he had a kind word, and the aged were strengthened by his presence. Truly, like a shock of corn fully ripe, his Master has taken him home, to rest. None knew father Barstow but to love and respect him. We will miss him from our streets: He has gone home.
