Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Josephita Aguilar and sisters, Antonia Sánchez and Tomasita Kloeppel.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Aguilar, sons, Ernie Karl Aguilar Jr. and Albert J. Aguilar and his wife, Melissa "Cissy", daughter, Valerie A. Longley and her husband, Wayne, five brothers, Jimmy and his wife, Juliette, Johnny and his wife, Frances, David and his wife, Vicky, Tommy and Ramon and his wife, Stella, sisters, Chana Domínguez and her husband, Dan, Connie Montoya and her husband, Sefe and Aneda, grandchildren, Phllip, Isaiah, Donovan Tyler and Tristin, father and mother-in-law, Juan and Fannie Maestas, brother and sister-in-laws, Ramón and Hermalinda Maestas, Johnny and Tillie Maestas, Porf and Pate Maestas, Frank and Linda Maestas, Don and Barb Maestas, John and Julia McClain and Ross and Vi García and many nieces, nephews aunts, uncles and friends.
Ernie was a lifelong resident of Bernalillo, NM.
Ernie was very active in United Way, Knights of Columbus, Elks Club and Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Spanish Choir. Ernie worked at Sandia Labs of 28 1/2 years as an electronic technician and was also a licensed cosmetologist and meat cutter.
Ernie served as Mayor the Town of Bernalillo from 1990 until 1994.
Ernie served in the United States Army, a Vietnam Veteran and held the rank of E5. Ernie also served as a union steward for AFLCIO.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 1998 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, NM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 1998 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.
