Albert Joe Alsup, US Air Force (Ret.), passed away peacefully at home December 9, 2023, at the age of 90.
Joe was born February 13, 1933, in Vivian, LA to the late James Fred Alsup and the late Era V. Alsup.
He proudly served his country in the US Air Force for twenty-three years.
After his discharge from the military, he went to work at the Savannah River Plant. He had made Aiken, SC his home since 1970. He loved serving his country in the Air Force, Airplanes, and his passion was painting as a hobby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Jim Alsup, as well as a stepdaughter, Debbie Hill.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Maria K. Alsup; three daughters, Vicki Sundquist, Sun City, FL, Cathy Mayfield, Dallas, TX, and Connie Osborne (Mike), Phoenix, AZ; three stepdaughters, Elaine Gorham (Tim), Pamela Allen (Walter), Scarlet Batson (Jeff), sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023, at George Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in The George Funeral Chapel.
Interment, with military honors, will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joey Moore, Steven Bowman, Kenneth Boyd, Clinton Batson, Bentley Bowman, and Brandon Allen.
The Historic George Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC 29801, has charge of arrangements.
