He was the youngest of 7 children of Frederick Bruce and Anna Mary Mosteller Battersby. He graduated from Vineland HS in NJ in 1935. He served in the US Army in WWII in the Pacific theatre, a SSgt. in communications. He played music (banjo, steel guitar, ukelele) in a group while there and loved Hawaii. He married 8-30-1951 and raised 2 children. He was a TV repairman by trade and continued in communications thru ham radio and morse code. He died of cancer.
