James Thompson "Judge" Smiley, eighty-three years of age, passed away on December 10, 1974 at his residence.

He was a native and resident of Frost and a retired farmer and timberman. He was a member of Colyell Baptist Church and Hurd Merril Masonic Lodge of Livingston.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Martin Smiley; four daughters, Vanda Duplessie, Gilda Devall, Olga Raybon, and Herthell Duvall; three sisters, Lorin Wall, Elvie Efferson, and Mirth Simeon; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Kizzie Smiley; his first wife, Ola May Lockhart Smiley; two sons, Andrew Pleasant Smiley and and James Thompson Smiley Jr.
