Sandra Kay Ellefson, 86, of Central City, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2023.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Monroe Evangelical Free Church in Phillips with Rev. Mark Dunham and Rev. Joe Mullarkey officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4th from 5-7 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.
Interment will be held at the Central City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Sandra was born on August 30, 1937 to Reynald and Gretta (Clevenger) Acker in Belgrade.
While growing up her family lived in Belgrade, Fullerton, and Omaha, eventually settling in Central City.
Sandra graduated from Central City High School in 1955. Following graduation, she attended Kearney State Teachers College.
She moved back to Central City where she taught at a country school in Merrick County.
On April 7, 1957 she was united in marriage to Harold "Herk" Malm in Central City. To this union were four children; Kent, Mike, Teri, and Jenny.
Herk and Sandra started Herk's Welding in Marquette and eventually moved the business to Central City. Herk died December 29, 1977.
Sandra then worked as a paraprofessional at Central City Public Schools.
Sandra was united in marriage to John Ellefson on June 6, 1980 in Central City.
Sandra was an active member of Monroe Evangelical Free Church. Her greatest love was Jesus and it was very important to her that her family loved Him as well. She spent countless hours praying faithfully for each member. She led several Bible study groups throughout the years.
She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, working in her yard and flower gardens, traveling, and was an avid Husker fan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband; John of Central City, her children; Kent (Nanci) Malm of Central City, Mike (Minette) Malm of Marquette, Teri (Lee) Schacht of Orchard, and Jenny (Dan) Beck of Hordville, one brother-in-law; Jerry Willhoft of Central City, 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Herk, and sister; Shirley Willhoft.
