William Cable, Jr., age 92, of Elk Park, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Mountain Home VA Hospital.

He was born on May 2, 1931, a son of the late William Alvin Cable and the late Ruby Hoss Cable.

William was well known in his community as a Rock Mason and Farmer, as well as having the largest private Trout farm in North Carolina. He enjoyed raising a variety of animals, including tumbling (competition) Pigeons, he very well could be known as the "Noah of Hump Mountain."

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Betty Cable; Father, William Alvin Cable, Sr.; Mother, Ruby Cable; Son, David Cable; Two Sisters, Louise Shell, and Helen Cable; and Brother, Johnny Cable.

William leaves behind to cherish his memory a Daughter, Debbie Lowder of Elk Park, NC; Two Sons, Mike (Mary) Cable of Elk Park, NC, Kenny (Kim) Cable of Elk Park, NC; Daughter In Law, Debbie Cable of Elk Park, NC; Brother, Jim Cable of Elk Park, NC; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren.

Interment services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Elk Park Cemetery with Ronnie Reece officiating.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Mountain Home VA Hospital and Community Living Center staff, also a special thank you to Alicia Hopson and Janice Clawson who provided in-home care.

The care of William and his family has been entrusted to Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home of Newland.
