Steven Robert Aldrich, 43, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends, on November 21, 2023, at Newport Hospital after a brief illness.

Steve was born to parents Robert W. Aldrich and Mary Lee Alderink in Newport, RI on March 3, 1980. He attended Middletown High School and dedicated his time to helping others as a peer support counselor to those in crisis and seeking help for substance use, treatment, and recovery.

Steve will be remembered for his friendly nature, independent spirit, quick sense of humor, and enduring hope for the future. Whether you were a friend, relative, or someone he spent time counseling, he always had a kind word or witty comment that brought out the light and expectation for a brighter tomorrow. Steve enjoyed spending his time with family and friends, creating art, and playing video games. He was always looking for new music to listen to, or a new book to read, and never turned down the chance to spend an afternoon browsing around shops.

His time on earth was cut tragically short. The profound loss we feel for him is a reminder of the joy of loving him. He will be missed beyond measure.

The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at the visitor registration desk of Newport Hospital for their care and compassion.
