George Chrisman, Member of Pioneer Family Passes
Funeral services were held Sunday June 12 at 2 p.m. from the Weddle Funeral home for George N. Chrisman 79, who died Thursday June 9 at his home near Scio. Burial was in Weisner cemetery.
Mr. Chrisman was born November 17, 1875 on the farm where he spent his entire life. Son of Abner and Minerva Chrisman, who came to Oregon county as children, Minerva in 1850 and Abner in 1852. George was the third generation of the Chisman family to live on the Chrisman farm which this year marked its 100th year of the family's occupation. Mr. Chrisman's father, John Chrisman, was captain of the wagon train when his family traveled across the country to establish a new home in Oregon.
Survivors are his wife Pearl; three daughters, Mrs. Sylvesta Limbeck and Mrs. Velma Limbeck of Scio and Mrs. Gladys Porter, Stayton; four sons, Leroy and Lyle Chrisman, Scio, Ross and Delbert, Salem; two brothers, Monroe of Ajlune, Wn. and Elday of Wenachchee, Wn. Two daughters died in infancy.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers were Clinton Trexler, Olaf Egger, Arthur McKensie, Loyd Schaeffer, T. E. Fleming and George Silbernagel.
