Visitation with Mrs. Pope's family will be from 4 until 9 PM, Wednesday, August 20, 1997 and from 1 until 2:45 PM, Thursday August 21 at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home. Services will be 3 PM Thursday, August 21 at First United Methodist Church in Lebanon with the Rev. Gerald Nofsinger and Mrs. Linda Halbert officiating. Burial will be at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Pope, 80, died Tuesday, August 19, 1997 at Nashville's St. Thomas Hospital. A Wilson County native, she resided in Lebanon. Mrs. Pope worked for the Wilson County School System for 22 years serving as secretary for Lebanon High School and also as the payroll clerk for the school system. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lebanon. Mrs. Pope was the daughter of the late Green and Myrtle Patterson Reed and was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Pope, who died April 1, 1993 and her brother, Phillip Reed who died in 1992.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law Grace and Bob Pack and Alice and Larry Oakley, all of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Rob, Laura and Stan Pack and John Oakley, all of Lebanon; sister, Katherine McKinney of Lebanon; two brothers, Erwin Reed of Nashville and Houston Reed of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Rebekah Group and the Dean Stroud Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church. Active Pallbearers will be Rob and Stan Pack, John Oakley, Joe Fuller, Hamlet Halbert, David R. McKinney and Andy Reed.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon or to the charity of your choice.
