Pauline and her family moved to Middle Musquodoboit when she was four years old where she received her education. After graduation, she clerked at the local store and met the love of her life, Carl, at a dance. One year later they were married and moved to Milford Station where Carl operated his dad's farm. Pauline became a member of Milford United Church, where she was an active member of UCW and church choir. She was instrumental in organizing Milford Home and School Association. She served with East Hants Health Authority Board for a term in 1982, and was a member of Elmsdale Chapter OES # 55; in her 50 plus years as a member, she served three terms as Worthy Matron, served as District Deputy Grand Matron in 1972, held many other offices, became a charter and life member in 2001 and received her 50 year jewel in 2006. She was also an affiliate member of Myrtle Chapter OES, Truro, where she served as organist.

Pauline loved music – singing, dancing and playing the piano and organ, and in earlier years, loved tennis and skating. She earned her driver's license at the age of 15, as the examiner had seen her driving, and she drove right up until her passing. She was a competent driver who was admired for her "backing up" abilities. She moved to Debert in 1983 and enjoyed her membership with Faith Baptist Church in Great Village, meeting a new circle of friends and becoming active in the music program. Pauline was a very accomplished seamstress and she gloated about her ability to never have to use a calculator for math.
