SANDERSVILLE - Funeral services for George A. Holmes, 53, of Sandersville, who died Sunday in Washington County Memorial Hospital, were held at 3 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church of Sandersville.
The Rev. M.C. Ferguson officiated. Burial was in Brownwood Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. E.L. Holmes. He was formerly vice president of Holmes Cannery and was presently serving as plant superintendent. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a Mason, Knight Templar, Shriner and member of the Washington County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. DeVera Stanley Holmes, Sandersville; four daughter, Misses Jean, Betty, Barbara and Margaret Holmes, all of Sandersville; one son, George A Holmes, Jr., Atlanta; five brothers, Ed A. Holmes, E. Lee Holmes, Tarver M. Holmes, all of Sandersville, Henry Holmes, Wilson, N.C., and the Rev. Thomas J. Holmes, Macon; and nieces and nephews.
Mayo Funeral Home is in charge.
