Fair Play- Shirley Jean Wood Denny, 79, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at AnMed Medical Center.
Born in Hart County, Georgia, Shirley was the daughter of the late Merman "Doc" and Thelma Irene Shaw Wood. Shirley was a retired custodian with the U.S. Postal Service, a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church and she enjoyed flower gardening and reading.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Kathy Bates and husband Derryl; brothers, Donnie Wood (Montez), Billy Wood (Brenda), Harry Wood (Kathy), Ricky Wood; sister, Glenda Moseley (Charles); grandchildren, Stephanie Lee, Kyle Mize; and 8 great-grandchildren, Dustin Lee (Chelsea), Gracie Lee, Isabelle Lee, Savannah Mize, Leland Mize, Joe Mize, Hailey Mize and Weldon Bryson.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her sons, Stanley Keith Thrasher, McArthur Thrasher, Jr.; daughter, Vickie Kirk; brother, J. Harold Wood; and her sister, Nancy Youngblood.
