Helen C. Amato of Liverpool, 87 years young, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Francis House. Helen was born in Syracuse and was a graduate of North High School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital for over 30 years, holding supervisory positions in Obstetrics and the Emergency Room during her tenure. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas (Gaetano) and Antonia (Antoinette) Amato and siblings, Concetta Merlino, Antoinette Cappa, Josephine Congel, Sarah Fazio, Frances Congel, Thelma Cooper, Stella Bucci, Rose Amato, Samuel Amato and Joseph Amato. Helen is survived by her sister, Mary Tarbet of Florida, extended family members and dear friends. Private arrangements were handled by the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Contributions in Helen's memory may be made to Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
