Joseph "Joe" Francis Wolfe 1938-2023

Joseph (Joe) Francis Wolfe, 85, of Algoma, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Sunday, November 19, 2023 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Green Bay to the late Joseph Wolfe and Vera Tally on February 11, 1938. Joe graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1957 excelling in football and basketball. After graduating from high school, Joe served in the US Marines and then the US Navy. Joe married Kathleen (Baierl Bouche) on November 11, 1983 and they recently celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage.

Joe is survived by his wife Kathy; children, Kevin (Maureen) Hession, David (Sue) Wolfe, Daniel (Marie) Wolfe, Charlene (Ed) Stratton-Wolfe, Scott (Jenny) Wolfe and Paula (Scott) Grovogel. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Mike (Kathy) Bouche, Scott (Loria) Bouche, Lynn (Mark) Fitzsimmons, Susan (Peter) Thelen, and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was fiercely proud of all of them. Joe is also survived by his sister Sharon (Dennis) Adams. He was proceded in death by his parents and his in-laws Joseph and Madeline Baierl.

Joe retired from Green Bay Packaging in 1999. Prior to that he worked for Vans Lumber in Dyckesville and had various jobs in Sturgeon Bay and on the East Coast. Joe was a talented carpenter who built and remodeled many properties including his own home which was his pride and joy on the lake in Algoma. Joe was an honorary member of the Algoma Boat Club. He greatly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. He was their loudest cheerleader. He was very fond of animals and his dogs were always by his side. Joe and Kathy enjoyed many wonderful years traveling to Mexico with their good friends, Jim, Marge, Bernie and Madonna - so many stories, new friends, memories, and laughs!

A visitation for family and friends will be held for Joe from 10 am-1 pm on November 25, 2023, at St. Mary Church, 214 Church Street, Algoma, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm with Fr. Andrew Kurz officiating. There will be a private burial at Nicolet Memorial Gardens on Monday.

A special thank you to Joe's children Paula and Scott for their care and devotion during his final weeks. The family would also like to thank the Veterans Administration and Unity Hospice of Green Bay who took wonderful care of Joe. Thank you also to the ARC of Kewaunee County for transportation to appointments that allowed Joe to remain in his home he so loved. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Veteran's Administration and/or Unity Hospice in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
