Mrs Chapman, Wacoan's Kin Dies at Home
Mrs Wm Robert Lee Chapman 87, died at her home here at 1am Sat following a long illness. She was mother of Earl Chapman of Waco, Alta Newman, Valley Mills and Gr Mother of Mrs Henry Koller, Waco and Daniel L & Dorris Chapman, Dallas.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm Sun at the 1st Methodist Church here with the Rev. C A Mangham pastor officiating. Burial will be in Valley Mills Cem.
The former Miss Maria Chapman, was born in Sparta GA on Oct 25, 1869. She was married to the late W.R.L. Chapman on Nov 1 1885 in GA and they came to Valley Mills in 1892. They had loved here since that time.
Until recent years Mrs Chapman had been an active church worker at First Methodist Church here. Survivors include a son, Earl Chapman of Waco, a daughter Mrs H.V. (Alta) Newman of Valley Mills 2 grand children, 2 great grand children and 4 gt gt grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1920.
Maria wrote in the back of her Bible "Come to Texas 1892"
Her Bible is in the possession of Anna Lee Chapman Anderson of Dallas, TX.
Robert and Maria had six children:Sallie Rate,Ova Franklin, Robert Earl, Alta Lee,Mattie Ethel and a baby boy who died after birth.
