She was born Aug. 9, 1913, in Fillmore. Her parents were Marion and Lettie (Hurst) Cline. She married Phil Scroggin on June 19, 1937. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 1976. Survivors include three sons, Robert Scroggin of Greenwood, Frank Scroggin of Georgia and Allan Scroggin of Michigan; two daughters, Phyllis Scroggin of Greencastle and Juanita Smith of Batesville; 18 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Carrie (Elliott) Cline; a son, Carlyle Scroggin; and two sisters.
She graduated from Fillmore High School in 1933 and attended beauty school in Indianapolis.
She owned and operated Hazel's Beauty Shop in Greencastle for a few years and was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greencastle since 1935 and Baptist Women's Mission, Church Women United, Red Cross and the White Cross Guild.
The Rev. Paul Bowen will conduct a service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 404 Judson Drive in Greencastle. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, 602 E. Washington St. in Greencastle.
