Rev. Aquilla Haines was the son of Benjamin Haines. He was the husband of Elizabeth J. (Taylor) Haines. They were married in 1822. Elizabeth died November 8, 1891. Rev. Haines was of Quaker parentage, but who, when a young man, became converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church. He practiced medicine for many years, and was also a Licensed Local Preacher in the Baltimore Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, He became intimately acquainted with many of the leading members of the Baltimore Conference. His home was the preacher's home.
