Myrtle Irene Allen, 85, of Huntsville died Friday at Windsor House. Mrs. Allen was a native of Wayne City, Ill., and had lived in Huntsville for the past 50 years. During World War II, she was Rosie the Riveter with the Douglas Aircraft Co. She married Vern Price Allen upon his return from the war and raised her family as a military wife, moving from Alaska to Florida and many points in between. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Vern Price Allen, and son, Steve Allen. She is survived by her sons, Jim Allen and wife Ann, Gordon Allen and wife Terry, and Lawrence Allen; sister, Ruth Garner; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
