Lance Arvin, 83, passed away on November 14, 2023 at Autumn House East in York following a year long battle with cancer. He left us in the evening peacefully, surrounded by family and caregivers at the home.

He was born on December 12, 1939 in York, Pennsylvania to Charles and Irene (Schneider) Arvin. Lance grew up in East York, Pennsylvania and graduated from Central York Senior High School in York, Pennsylvania in 1957. After high school, he maintained the family farm on Mount Zion Road and worked for 37 years at Duplex Products in Emigsville. He greatly enjoyed all sorts of auto racing being a long-standing fan of all local dirt tracks and was a member of the York County Racing Club and had the opportunity on attending several of the Indianapolis 500 races with his brother James and one year with his son. He played softball as a pitcher for the local church and industrial leagues, playing for Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and he bowled for the Duplex Products team.

Most recently, he enjoyed watching holiday and romantic movies on Hallmark channel, never missed an Eagles game on television and rooting for Penn State Football. He is remembered by family and caregivers for his kind smile and sense of humor.

Lance married Anna Mary (Potts) in 1967 in York, Pennsylvania. They were married for 29 years before Anna Mary passed away in 1996.

Lance was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Charles, Richard, Clyde, Thelma (Hoover), James, Dale, daughter Kimberly Ann and granddaughter Anaysia.

Lance is survived by his daughters Rochelle (Butch) Witta of York Haven, Robin (Anthony) Durbin of Lancaster, PA and Robert (Amy) Arvin of York, PA; his grandchildren Joshua (Marguerite) of San Antonio, TX and Jonathan Leonard of York, PA, Justin Durbin of Lancaster, PA, Elliana and Elise Arvin of York, PA; his former wife Carolyn Davis; Smoke his Snowshoe feline and a long list of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Etzweiler Funeral Home 1111 East Market Street, York, PA 17403 with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. on November 20, 2023, with the funeral starting at 11:00 a.m. Lance will be interred at Mount Zion Cemetery following services.

In lieu of flowers, Lance wished for donations to be given in his name to Memorial White Rose Hospice (224 Saint Charles Way, Suite 100, York, PA 17402, phone 717.900.6871).
